行走的「行」除了步行，更有行事、行動的意義。人們藉著行走／行事／行動交織出城市與歷史文化的複雜紋理。我們常說「走入／走出歷史」、「走入／走出夢中」，行走涉及真實、虛幻與夢境；我們也常說「找路」或「尋道」，將日常的行走比喻為生活或人生目標的追尋。當人類（文明）遭受重擊，「行走」便成為行動的起式與療癒的行為。「夾縫」指涉的亦不只是步行的空間經驗，而也提示出人們總是行走於事物「之間」，暗示在事物「之間」的行動總是需要對策。本展覽以「在夾縫中行走」作為當代生存境況的隱喻，邀集1960年代以降、橫跨數個世代台灣與國際藝術家的創作與文物展開對話。藉由北美館二樓隱約指涉路徑的兩座十字形長廊，本展覽結合多元媒材的藝術作品，並加入研究的觀點，試圖將觀看與閱讀的經驗融合成一次「在夾縫中行走」的體驗。 行走產生路徑，或是「捷徑」、或是「繞道」；行走的路徑或許是起於「跟蹤」與「跟隨」別人的腳步。人有時列隊行走，有時來回行走，有時更挑戰棘行（例如我們稱冒險的事為「走鋼索」）。各式各樣行走的路徑所形成的線，彼此或是平行、或是交集，或是編織成面，進而形成「網絡」。「在夾縫中行走」所形成的「線」與「網絡」，也將是本展覽連結藝術與日常生活、作者與觀者、作品與空間的方式，讓展覽的觀看與閱讀聯通成一個週而復始的循環，寓意宇宙與事物生滅消長的輪迴。 策展人：張芳薇 參展藝術家： 王淑鈴、中西夏之 (Natsuyuki Nakanishi)、白雙全、石晉華、耳石小組 (The Otolith Group)、何德來、李華生、周代焌、洪東祿、珍妮．安東尼 (Janine Antoni)、威廉．肯特里奇 (William Kentridge)、郝經芳+王令杰、倪灝、陳昭宏、陳其寬、高松次郎 (Jiro Takamatsu)、彭弘智、崔廣宇、莫娜．哈同 (Mona Hatoum)、黃麗絹、葉世強、奧馬．菲斯特 (Omer Fast)、盧奇歐．封塔納 (Lucio Fontana)、鄧堯鴻、劉玗、劉瀚之、諾米．馬奎茲 (Noemi Marquez)、謝德慶。
Walking creates paths, which may be shortcuts or perhaps detours. A path may start from tracking others or following in their footsteps. Sometimes people march in line. Sometimes they pace back and forth. Sometimes they walk a perilous road (for instance, we speak of risky affairs as “walking a tightrope”). These many different walking paths form lines, some running parallel to each other, others intersecting, all of them ultimately interweaving into a surface and forming a network. This is also how the exhibition connects art with daily life, artists with viewers, artworks with spaces. The viewing and reading of the exhibition are drawn together into a cycle, which implies the cycle of birth and perishing that encompasses the universe and all things.
